We live in a time where we’re more connected than ever through technology. We can access almost anything we want through our phones, and all it takes to get in touch with someone is a “like” on social media or a short text message. This connectivity has helped us advance, but I also believe we’re missing out on the community-building that was commonplace before the advent of technology.

I want to work on bringing back some of that “old-school” sense of community by encouraging a true sense of civic engagement—starting with our City Council. Our residents need to know who we are, what we do, and how we do it. I’ll encourage our community to reach out to me about any concerns they might have. I’ll also make myself available in the community through events, meetings, and even just an old-fashioned wave or handshake. Don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me when you see me out and about—I’ll always be up for a conversation!

The only way we can be united is if we bring our community and the city council together, and I’ll do my best to create an environment that supports that.
